This laptop cooling pad is one of my personal favorites, and the one I use on an everyday basis. Why, you might ask? Well, because it has a great combination of useful features that really makes it stand out from the pack. It has everything you need, as well as some “luxury” features that really give you a great value for the money. The U3 is perfect for larger laptops, and can easily accommodate notebooks that are 17” – 19”. The perfect fit for this cooler would be a laptop around 17”, any larger and the notebook starts to hang over the side a bit, which isn’t a big deal but could be a concern for some. Of course it still works great with laptops under 17”, you might just have some extra room on the sides! The U3 also comes with rubber anti-slip grips on the top right and left of the cooling stand, making certain your laptop stays stable for intense gaming sessions.
Standout Features of the Notepal U3
The Cooler Master U3’s main standout feature is the three 80mm movable fans that sit on the underside of the cooler. To move the fans around, you simply flip the laptop cooler over and you can begin moving the fans to the ideal location for your laptop. Each fan has a release button you can press to easily remove and reapply it to wherever you choose.
These movable fans are a godsend for larger laptops. Many times the hot spot on your notebook isn’t directly in the middle, where the fans of most laptop coolers are positioned. Your hard drive, CPU unit, graphics card and battery can all get ultra hot, and many times these items are located on the edges of your computer. With the Cooler Master U3, you can simply position the 3 fans to blow cool air directly at these crucial components.
The cooling pad also comes with a side-mounted variable fan speed controller that clips onto the side of the cooler. This allows you to change fan speeds from 950 – 1800 RPM, giving you great control over the fan power. Don’t be afraid to turn up the power – even at max RPMs the fans are still extremely quiet and almost inaudible. All of this is powered by one USB port, which also doubles as a USB extender so you aren’t sacrificing a USB port just for your cooler.
Overall, this is a top-tier cooler that I would recommended for mostly everyone – but especially to notebook gamers or someone doing CPU heavy work on their computer, like animation students or film editors. The movable fans provide for a feature that can’t be beat and the large surface area is able to hold almost any laptop easily.
